2011 to 2015

Twenty-two posts SCCAW published to its own website, preserved unedited.
What this is
Between September 2011 and October 2015, Sevier Citizens for Clean Air and Water ran its own website and published to it regularly. Twenty-two posts survive.
They are the only contemporaneous record of the group’s work after the coal fight ended, written while the gas plant permit was moving and nobody knew how it would come out. They include meeting summaries with named guests, the text of an announcement the group ran in the Richfield Reaper, comments filed with federal agencies, and two long first-person accounts by Dick Cumiskey of what the appeal actually involved.
Everything in this section is reproduced as it was published. Nothing has been rewritten, corrected, or trimmed.
Two things to know before reading
These posts were written to persuade. They are advocacy documents from an active campaign, and they read that way. The rest of this site is written in the past tense about a campaign that ended. This section is not.
They also contain at least one error. Two posts from 2011 date the Utah Supreme Court’s coal ruling to January 2009. The published opinion in Kennon v. Air Quality Board is dated December 4, 2009. The mistake is preserved rather than fixed, because correcting a primary source quietly is worse than leaving it and saying so.
